Pakistan's Nooh Dastgir Butt, India's Gurdeep Singh celebrate CWG 2022 victory with Sidhu Moose Wala's songs

CWG 2022: Pakistan’s Muhammad Nooh Dastgir Butt and India’s Gurdeep Singh won the Gold medal and Bronze medal, respectively, in the 109 kg-plus category of weightlifting at the Commonwealth Games 2022. Both Muhammad Nooh Dastgir Butt and Gurdeep Singh celebrated their CWG 2022 triumph with Sidhu Moose Wala's songs.

Pakistan’s 25-year-old Muhammad Nooh Dastgir Butt won a Gold medal after his record-breaking total lift of 405 kg ((173kg in snatch round and 232kg in clean and jerk round) in the 109 kg-plus category at the Commonwealth Games 2022 in Birmingham.

On the other hand, India’s 26-year-old Gurdeep Singh won the bronze medal with a total lift of 390kg (167kg in snatch round and 223kg in clean and jerk round) in weightlifting's 109 kg-plus category for a podium finish.

Meanwhile, both Muhammad Nooh Dastgir Butt and Gurdeep Singh celebrated their victories with their favourite Sidhu Moose Wala's songs playing in the background.

The same taste in music, the common culture and the common mother tongue led to a good bond between them while competing against each other during the Commonwealth Games 2022.

Both the weightlifters, from the two Punjabs on either side of the India-Pakistan border, made the entire Punjabi community proud.

That's the power of sports. Despite being divided by the border, two weightlifters got united through sports and got to spend quality time with each other.
