In a shocking development, the Bollywood actor Swara Bhasker has received a death threat in a letter after which the Mumbai police has launched an investigation into the matter.
The letter with a 'death threat' was sent to Swara Bhasker's residence which is located in Versova.
After receiving the letter, Swara Bhasker reported the incident to Versova police station and even lodged a complaint against the unidentified accused.
"Based on the complaint, we have registered a non-cognisable offence against unidentified persons," an official said adding that the investigation is currently underway.
The letter is written in Hindi and it mentions that the youth of the country will not tolerate the insult of Veer Savarkar.
Earlier on June 29, Swara Bhasker condemned the killing of tailor Kanhaiya Lal who was beheaded in Rajasthan's Udaipur for supporting now-suspended BJP leader Nupur Sharma.
Swara Bhaskar tweeted: “Despicable and utterly condemnable.. The perpetrators should be dealt with promptly and strictly, as per law! Heinous crime.. Unjustifiable! As one often says.. if you want to kill in the name of your God, start with yourself! Sick sick monsters! #UdaipurHorror”
Bhasker often remains in the headlines for her remarks on current affairs in India. She is very active on social media and keeps questioning the government.
