PTC Network's MD Rabindra Narayan Questions Gurbani's 'Free-to-Air' Claims, Announces Rs 1 Cr Reward

Rabindra Narayan, the Managing Director of PTC Network, has recently expressed his concerns regarding the ongoing Amendment to Gurdwara Act. In a social media post, he emphasized that the transmission of Gurbani is already accessible to everyone without any cost. Notably, the Government of India has officially classified all PTC Network channels as free-to-air channels, ensuring that viewers can access them without any fees.

"Gurbani is already available free of cost. The government of India has classified all PTC Network channels as free-to-air channels, and no cable operator or DTH operator charges any fees for accessing them. Moreover, Gurbani can be freely accessed on platforms like YouTube and Facebook. Therefore, it raises the question of how they claim to make Gurbani 'free to air'," expressed Rabindra Narayan, the Managing Director of PTC Network.

Rabindra Narayan, in his statement, shed light on the fact that cable operators and DTH operators do not impose any charges for the transmission of Gurbani. Furthermore, popular online platforms like YouTube and Facebook offer free access to Gurbani. Given these existing avenues, he expressed skepticism regarding the assertions made by certain entities claiming to make Gurbani "free to air."

In a bold move, Rabindra Narayan, the Managing Director of PTC Network, has issued a challenge to the entire cabinet. He called for the introduction of a consumer bill that would grant a reward of Rs 1 crore to anyone who has paid to listen to Gurbani across the country.

Highlighting the long-standing tradition, Narayan pointed out that since 1998, Gurbani has been broadcasted in the morning and evening sessions from Harmandir Sahib, also known as the Golden Temple, in Amritsar. This sacred practice has allowed devotees to connect with the divine teachings of Sikhism.

PTC MD's comments draw attention to the availability and accessibility of Gurbani content through various channels. The classification of PTC Network channels as free-to-air by the government already ensures that viewers can enjoy Gurbani without any financial burden. Additionally, the wide reach of digital platforms allows individuals to access Gurbani freely, further questioning the need for additional claims of making it "free to air."
