Biopics are the new favorites in Bollywood Industry these days. Starting from “Bhaag Milkha Bhaag”, “M.S.Dhoni – The Untold Story”, “Marry Kom” to “Dangal”, they all have hit the box office. Farhan Akhtar who played Milkha Singh in “Bhaag Milkha Singh” is all to produce the biopic of the Paralymic Champion Deepa Malik. Farhan Akhtar along with Ritesh Sidhwani are already making a bipic, “Gold” starring Akshay Kumar in the lead are all set up to come with another sports biopic. News are that the duo will be working on the biopic based on the life of Deepa Malik. For all those who do not know about Deepa, She has bagged 54 gold medals at the national level and 13 at the international level in swimming, javelin throw and shot put. She was also honored with the Arjuna Award in 2012.
According to the reports, Ritesh Sidhwani met the Paralympic Champion and discussed the project after she narrated her whole journey to him. Sidhwani said,”I had watched videos of her and knew that her life story was unreal, but when I met her and she let me hold her medal, the sheer weight of the silver gave me goose flesh. As she sat in front of me, there was nothing differently-abled about her. She was empowering, a pillar of strength, and I knew that we needed to take her fight to the big screen.” The team has already started documenting each and every detail related to Malik’s life. The movie will hit the floors next year. The hunt for the lead actress is still on. The makers want to be double sure about their choice for choosing the right person for the lead role in the movie. The movie will strictly focus on Deepa Malik’s struggle and her decision to choose a life of triumph with spinal paralysis over death.
