PTC PUNJABI WEEKLY REVIEW : SECRET SUPERSTAR IS ANOTHER FEATHER'S IN AAMIR KHAN'S CAP

One good reason why Aamir Khan starrer ‘Secret Superstar’ stands out is because it manages to keep the audience hooked to the screenplay despite an easily perceivable storyline. This could be a real challenge for a director who’s directing a drama that doesn’t concede the usual twists and turns.

If you watched the trailer of the film, you would've felt the entire story line coming out in the open. A regular small town girl who dreams of becoming a Singer, a Mother (played by Meher Vij) who supports her ambition but can’t do much in front of a abusive and oppressive father (played by Raj Arjun). The girl meets a worn out music director who seems to play an important role in turning the young girl’s dreams in manifestation.

Now, the only reason for the audience to go watch the movie is to satisfy the ‘How’ and that’s where Aamir Khan’s genius comes in handy. In spite of all the predictability, there are many reasons to watch the movie. The first and foremost reason is the immensely talented actors that make this character driven film a must watch. Be it the oppressed mother played by Meher Vij, the abusive hound of a father played by Raj Arjun or the little kid who plays Tirth Sharma and last but not the least, Insia, played by Zaira Wasim, the incredible performances of all the characters makes ‘Secret Superstar’ another feather in Mr. Perfectionist Aamir Khan’s cap.

Watch it for Shakti Kumar, a cheesy music director who makes a spectacle of him with his outlandish attire and takes the avocation of bringing Insia’s talent to the world. Will he succeed, find out at your nearest theatres.
