DEEPIKA PADUKONE'S PARENTS GET POLICE PROTECTION AMIDST THREATS

Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s most anticipated yet controversial project ‘Padmavati’ is creating hype for all the wrong reasons. Protesters, who have been demanding a ban on the film’s release, are no longer limited to Rajasthan. The entire country seems to be divided in this controversy with one section supporting the film while the other opposes it.

Lately, after both Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Deepika Padukone received threats for voicing their dissent about the protests, Police personnel have been posted outside Deepika Padukone’s parents’ house in Bengaluru.

Deepika Padukone’s father, legendary Badminton player Prakash Padukone lives in Bengaluru along with Deepika’s mother, younger sister and grandmother in the city’s northern suburb.

This is to be noted that BJP leader from Haryana, Kunwar Surajpal Singh Ammu had offered a reward of Rs 10 crore to anyone who would “behead” Deepika and director Sanjay Leela Bhansali for the film, which is based on the life of 13th century Indian queen Rani Padmini, also known as Padmavati. Karnataka’s Chief Minister, Siddaramaiah, however, came in Deepika’s defence asking Haryana’s CM, Manohar Lal Khattar to take action against those threatening to harm Deepika.
