The “Soorma” actor is portraying the role of Former Hockey Player Sandeep Singh who had brought India gold at the 2009 Sultan Azlan Shah Cup tournament after 13 long years. The story of India’s most fierce drag flicker, Sandeep Singh, is all set to come alive with Diljit Dosanjh-starrer Soorma on the big screen soon. This story is about how he made a comeback in Hockey after being accidentally shot in 2006. Sandeep Singh injury led him to be on a wheel-chair for two years but went on to become the highest goal scorer in the qualifying match for the London Olympics in the year 2012
Here is the video by Dosanjhwala which is so inspiring.
Talking about essaying the role of Sandeep Singh, while interaction with media he said, “I feel proud to be part of Soorma, a biopic made on Sandeep Singh. Sandeep has never failed to make India proud, be it on the field or off it, he keeps setting the benchmark higher. I knew that he was the captain but didn’t know he was shot in his back. When I started playing hockey, I realized the entire game relies on your back- you have to bend to play it. So the pressure is double. What I didn’t know was, how a man who was shot, stood up, recovered and made a world record.”
