Diljit Dosanjh says Life Mai Goal Hona Chahiye. The “Soorma” actor is portraying the role of Former Hockey Player Sandeep Singh who had brought India gold at the 2009 Sultan Azlan Shah Cup tournament after 13 long years. The story of India’s most fierce drag flicker, Sandeep Singh, is all set to come alive with Diljit Dosanjh-starrer Soorma on the big screen soon.
Soorma trailer came out on Monday and shared Sandeep’s journey during the important milestones of his life. However, there were moments when the love story of Diljit and Taapsee Pannu, who plays a hockey player too, appeared to be taking over the narrative.
He has done a tremendous body transformation to fit himself in the role of Sandeep Singh. His goal and dedication for work is clearly seen in the video he has shared on his Insta handle.

Talking about essaying the role of Sandeep Singh, while interaction with media he said, “I feel proud to be part of Soorma, a biopic made on Sandeep Singh. Sandeep has never failed to make India proud, be it on field or off it, he keeps setting the benchmark higher. I knew that he was the captain but didn’t know he was shot on his back. When I started playing hockey, I realized the entire game relies on your back- you have to bend to play it. So the pressure is double. What I didn’t know was, how a man who was shot, stood up, recovered and made a world record.”
Sandeep was paralyzed and used a wheelchair for two years after an accidental gunshot injured him in 2006. And fighting all odds, he got back on his feet and made a comeback to international hockey in 2008. It was under his captaincy that India won the 2009 Sultan Azlan Shah Cup and also qualified for the 2012 Olympics in London. Sandeep has also been hailed as one of the most dangerous drag-flickers of all time with drag speeds of over 145 km/hr which led to his nickname, ‘Flicker Singh’. Soorma is produced by Sony Pictures Networks Productions, Chitrangda Singh, and Deepak Singh which is scheduled to hit theatres on July 13.
