Punjabis are undoubtedly the pride of nation because of their courage to stand for the country. They have always stood up to make the world a better place and leave an imprint wherever they go. Punjabis have been making their presence felt in the world by excelling in their fields on a global scale.

Here are 5 Punjabis who made it big on a global level:

Satinder Sartaaj

Popular Punjabi singer Satinder Sartaaj, made the nation proud by becoming the first turbaned singer to sing at the Opera House, Sydney. Born into a Punjabi Saini family, he has seen constant surge among Punjabi emigrants during his shows around the world. He got popular with the song ‘Sai’ and since then there is no going back for the sufi singer.

Satnam Singh

Born in a small remote village, Baloke, Punjab, Satnam Singh Bhamara is the first Indian player to be drafted into National Basketball Association in 2015. Led by Punjab State Youth team, Satnam was awarded with a scholarship under IMGR basketball training academy in Bradenton. He was selected by the Dallas Mavericks to play for the center position.

Nikki Haley

Born as Nimrata Randhawa to an Indian American Sikh family in United States, Nikki Haley emerged as the first female governor of South Caroline. In 2004, she was first elected for the South Carolina House of Representatives. The lady has served for three terms as a United States Ambassador to the United Nations.

Gursoach Kaur

Gursoach Kaur is the first female Sikh officer to join the New York Police Department. She has joined the department as an Auxiliary Police Officer, who aims to motivate others to join law enforcement and help create better understanding of Sikhism.

Harmeet Singh

Harmeet Singh emerged as the first Sikh man to be hired as an anchor by a news channel in Pakistan. While his immediate family hails from Pakistan, he has his extended family in India.
