Here are some lesser known facts about him

He won a Filmfare award for the Best Lyricist for Taj Mahal in 1963.

His work has inspired Indian cinema, and particulary Bollywood.

A commemorative stamp was issued in the honour of the ninety-second anniversary of Sahir's birth on 8 March 2013.

He was also awarded with Padma Shri Award in 1971 for his amazing work in the industry.

Sahir has also written poetry in Urdu language.
