Remarkable Gesture! 10-yr-old Gurkiret donates Rs 30,000 at PGI hospital on his birthday

To make his birthday a memorable one, a 10-year-old boy Gurkiret Singh has donated Rs 30,000 for treatment of poor patients at PGIMER, Chandigarh. According to the reports published in Indian Express, Gurkiret studies in Sydney and has been saving his pocket money for years.

Gurkiret is a grandson of social activist Bibi Harbajan Kaur, who was recently honoured by PTC Network during the Sirjanhaari- Awards Ceremony. The award ceremony was held by PTC Network in association with Nanhi Chaan Punjabi Public Charitable Trust.

Harbhajan Kaur is a retired markfed employee and has donated all her savings (nearly Rs 50 lakh) the welfare of poor and needy.

Talking to Newsline, Harbajan Kaur said,’’It is pleasing to see that my third generation is also carrying forward the teachings of Sikh gurus, who emphasised on the joy of giving.’’

 

Born in 1949, Harbhajan Kaur was raised in a spiritually oriented family in village Malukkalan, district Hoshiarpur, Punjab.
