Shaheedi Diwas 2019: Celebs Salute Freedom Fighters Bhagat Singh, Rajguru & Sukhdev
Indians across the globe paid tributes to martyrs Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev on their martyrdom day today. March 23, 2019 marks 88th martyrdom of Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev Thapar and Shivaram Rajguru, the three revolutionary heroes in India’s freedom struggle.
Bhagat Singh, along with Shivaram Rajguru and Sukhdev Thapar, were hanged to death by the British Raj for conspiring to kill John P Saunders, a British police officer, who had ordered brutal police action on independence movement leader Lala Lajpat Rai.

Bhagat Singh was sentenced to be hanged on March 24, 1931. His hanging was, however, brought forward by 11 hours to March 23, 1931 at 7: 30 pm.
