‘The Accidental Prime Minister’ Is Path-Breaking Film, Can Win Oscar: Kirron Kher

Veteran actress Kirron Kher on December 29 calls the upcoming Bollywood film ‘The Accidental Prime Minister’ a ‘path-breaking’ film and claims that it has the potential to win an Oscar. The film, which stars Anupam Kher in a lead role, is based on a book on former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

While Anupam Kher portrays the character of India’s ex-PM Manmohan Singh in the film, Akshaye Khanna is playing the role of author Sanjay Baru, who served as the media advisor of Manmohan Singh from 2004 to 2008 and the author of the book with a same name.

While talking to leading news agency ANI, Kirron said that ‘The Accidental Prime Minister’ is a cult movie. “It’s a pathbreaking film. People who speak of freedom of speech i.e Rahul Gandhi, must now practice what he preaches.Anupam told me people will fall in love with Manmohan Singh ji. It should be India’s official entry to the Oscars.”

Earlier, the makers of the film released the trailer on YouTube. The trailer has received immense positive response from the movie lovers with many praising Anupam Kher for his super acting.

Undeniably, after watching the trailer, it appears to be one of the most promising films of not only Anupam Kher but Akshaye Khanna’s filmy career as well.

The film is directed by debutant Vijay Ratnakar Gutte and it is releasing on January 11.
