Salman Khan death threat case: In a major development in Salman Khan's death threat case, Maharashtra Home Department on Wednesday said that the gangster Lawrence Bishnoi had sent the letter to extort money.
Days after Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala was killed in Punjab, Bollywood actor Salman Khan and his father received a death threat via a letter.

Salman's father Salim Khan's security team had found the letter near the Bandra Bandstand promenade, where Salim Khan usually goes for his routine morning walk.
The news agency ANI stated that according to information received from Maharashtra Home Department, the reason behind the Lawrence Bishnoi gang threatening actor Salman Khan and his father Salim Khan was to create an atmosphere to showcase their power.

"The gang was preparing to extort money from big businessmen and actors," an official was quoted by ANI as saying.
On the other hand, Punjab Police brought gangster Lawrence Bishnoi to Punjab under heavy security in the early hours of Wednesday to question him in singer Sidhu Moose Wala's murder case.

Lawrence Bishnoi was produced before a court in Mansa district where Punjab Police got a 7-day remand. On Tuesday, a Delhi court had granted Punjab Police the transit remand of Lawrence Bishnoi to take him to Punjab.
On June 8, Delhi Police had stated that the mastermind behind the killing of Sidhu Moose Wala was gangster Lawrence Bishnoi.
