Bollywood actor Sonali Bendre Behl, who is undergoing medical treatment for cancer in New York, celebrated Diwali with husband Goldie Behl and son Ranveer. With the celebrations, Sonali has set an example for all of us to stay positive in life.

The actress posted few pictures from her Diwali puja on her Instagram account. In the pictures, Sonali can be seen lighting candles and offering prayers.

She captioned it as: “Diwali in New York happens much later than in Mumbai... Hence, the late wish! It was quite an unconventional one... We didn’t have Indian clothes, we had a small puja... But it was all heart.

The 43- year-old was diagnosed with metastatic cancer in July. She has been in New York since then.

What is metastatic cancer?

When cancer spreads to different parts of the body, it is called metastatic cancer. Cancer can spread regionally to nearby lymph nodes or to tissues and organs. And it can even spread to different body parts. When this happens it is called metastatic cancer.

Sonali, who is known for her work in movies like Sarfarosh, Hum Saath Saath Hain, Major Saab and many more, announced her fans about undergoing treatment for cancer through a social media post.

She wrote: “I have recently been diagnosed with a high grade cancer that has metastised, which we frankly did not see coming. A niggling pain led to some tests, which led to this unexpected diagnosis. My family and close friends have rallied around me, providing the best support system that anyone can ask for. I am very blessed and thankful for each of them.”

“There is no better way to tackle this, than to take swift and immediate action. And so, as advised by my doctors, I am currently undergoing a course of treatment in New York. We remain optimistic and I am determined to fight every step of the way. What has helped has been the immense outpouring of love and support I’ve received over the past few days, for which I am very grateful. I’m taking this battle head on, knowing I have the strength of my family and friends behind me,” she added.

Sonali made her Bollywood debut in 1994 with Govinda’s Aag.
